Former Dallas and Memphis point guard Tyrell Terry announced his retirement from playing on Thursday and spoke about his mental health on social media.


Terry, 22, notes that basketball has given him lifelong friends and included amazing accomplishments and unforgettable memories. At the same time, he writes that he experienced the darkest times in his life. To such an extent that instead of strengthening me, it began to destroy me. Dallas selected Terry with the 31st overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Tyrell played in just 11 games in his debut season and missed significant time due to personal reasons.


The Mavericks released him before the 21-22 season.


Terry later joined the Grizzlies and appeared in two games predicted by football-stats during the 21-22 season.
